Overview

The Waterfront Leadership Certificate Program (WLCP) is a cooperative venture between Capilano University Executive Education and the British Columbia Maritime Employers Association (BCMEA). This innovative customized program focuses on leadership development for team leaders within the BC waterfront industry.

The program is one of a kind in Canada. The uniqueness of this program is its customization.  We provide the same educational frameworks delivered by experienced instructors but with case studies, stories and context that can only be conveyed by individuals who have worked in the waterfront environment.

Program Content and Requirements

This comprehensive program offers fourteen (14) days of training over a 7 month period in the following areas:

Individual Project

In addition to the above courses each participant selects a project that is related to learning from the program and delivers it to an appointed executive (or senior member) of their own organization.

Completion

Provided that each participant attends all of the courses and the BCMEA receives confirmation that the project has been delivered satisfactory to their superior, participants are eligible to receive a certificate of completion.

Cost

Attending an open enrollment course / standard continuing education course has benefits, but such learning does not offer the level of customization that the BCMEA/Capilano University WLCP offers. Our program provides the same educational frameworks delivered by experienced instructors but with case studies, stories and context that can only be conveyed by individuals who have worked in the waterfront environment.

Program delivery costs are incurred by the company on a per-participant basis. We anticipate that the program will cost $4,500 per participant for the full fourteen days of training.
